TALKING WITH EXTRAORDINARY PEOPLE
Meet Ale Parraga
This series is brought to you by Extraordinary. Every two weeks, we sit down with founders, innovators, and creators in Barcelona and beyond to share their journeys, challenges, and the fun (and unexpected) sides of who they are.
Some people plan for years to make it onto Forbes 30 Under 30. For Ale, it happened by surprise: her friends nominated her, and she found out one random morning. She is a lawyer and founder of Notariza, a legaltech startup modernizing notarial and intellectual property processes in Peru.
Here’s our quick and fun chat 👇
Q: Tell us in one sentence what your startup Notariza does.
A: We help entrepreneurs register their brands, logos, and names, and also incorporate their companies through a fast digital notary network in Peru. What used to be tedious is now digital and easy.
Q: What’s the craziest thing that has happened with Notariza?
A: A competitor accused us of lying because they didn’t believe we had over 3,000 clients. They filed a complaint, and I had to prove it with contracts and data. In the end, I won the case. Basically, they accused us of being “too successful.”
Q: When did you know you wanted to be a lawyer?
A: I never wanted to be a lawyer! I actually wanted to study theater, but my dad didn’t let me, ha! I think that creative side really helps me. I’m an extrovert, and now I create legal content on Instagram — @alepalegal if you want to check it out!
Q: And how was it entering such a male-dominated industry?
A: Tough. That’s one of the reasons I left a traditional legal career and wanted to be an entrepreneur. At one point, a group of notaries even tried to shut down Notariza because they thought digital notarial processes were a threat. But innovation is unstoppable, even in very old-school industries like law.
Q: We’ve heard about people who “hijack” brand names. Does that really happen?
A: Absolutely. Some people register the trademarks of growing startups or big companies in other countries, then send a letter demanding huge amounts of money to give it back. It’s pure extortion — horrible! That’s why I always tell entrepreneurs: register your trademark early, and if this ever happens, don’t negotiate. Just move forward.
Q: Let’s talk about the big moment… how did you find out you were on Forbes 30 Under 30?
A: My friends had nominated me. To be honest, it had always been a dream, but it’s scary to even apply, you know? Maybe it’s an ego thing. Well, I totally forgot about it. One morning I woke up to a flood of “Congratulations!” DMs on Instagram. I was confused until I saw the link and realized my name was on the list. Total shock!
Q: Now that you’re based in Barcelona, what inspires you about the city?
A: I feel like anything is possible here. It’s diverse, full of energy, and the entrepreneurial ecosystem is vibrant. I want to expand my business to Spain too.
Stories like Ale’s inspire us to keep creating spaces where extraordinary professionals can connect and shine.
